In Run mode, click Prompter, then Start a new prompter. Just Read It opens in a new tab: that is the prompter operator's screen. In that tab, Copy Viewer Link and open it on the talent's screen.

Each time you call a segment, its Script appears on the talent's screen, paused at the top until the operator presses Play. Tick Roll on call and, from your second call on, each call starts a 3-2-1 countdown and the scroll by itself, with no operator. Undo never starts it rolling. An empty Script cell shows (No script: segment name), never the last segment's words.

In Run mode, click Switcher, then Create a switcher link. Under OBS, click Copy link. In OBS, add a Browser source with that link as the URL, set Page permissions to Advanced access to OBS, and put it in any scene you use. Hide it with its eye icon; it keeps working.

Type each row's OBS scene name in its Source cell, spelled exactly as in OBS. Each call switches OBS to that scene, using your OBS transition. Once OBS is open, the Switcher window in Next lists any Source name OBS doesn't have. No OBS plugin or WebSocket password: OBS's own Browser Source does it. Tested on OBS 32 for Mac.

In Run mode, click Switcher, then Create a switcher link. Under vMix, click Copy vMix script. The script it copies already has your link in it. Copy it from Next on the computer you call the show from, because the link belongs to that browser. If vMix runs on a different computer, press Download vMix script instead and move the file across (AirDrop, a USB stick or email), then open it on the vMix computer and copy its text.

In vMix, open Settings → Scripting, click Add, paste the script, give it a name, click Save, then Start. vMix keeps the script when it closes but doesn't start it again, so press Start there each time you open vMix. Type each row's vMix input title, or its number, in its Source cell, exactly as vMix shows it. Each call cuts vMix to that input. A Source name vMix doesn't have is skipped.

Keep vMix's Enable enhanced security on Web and TCP API setting on: the script runs inside vMix, so it doesn't need that setting off. vMix doesn't report back to Next, so watch the first cut in vMix itself. Scripting is part of vMix 4K, Pro and MAX, not Basic HD or HD. Scene graphics are an OBS feature for now. Tested on vMix 29 4K on Windows 11.

First paste your Scene OBS link under Graphics from Scene in Next's Switcher window, so the graphics use your look. Then copy the graphics link and add it in OBS as a second Browser source, size 1920 × 1080, on top in your scenes. If you change the look later, copy the graphics link again and update it in OBS.

Then in each row's Graphics cell: Dana Reyes | Keynote speaker shows a lower third. Topic: The future of live events shows a headline. BRB, Starting soon or Ending shows that Scene screen, counting down to the end of the segment while it is on time; add words with a colon, like BRB: Back in five | Grab a coffee. Live is Scene's small corner badge. An empty cell shows nothing. Anything else you type shows as a lower third, so keep notes out of this column.

No. Only a call or an Undo in Next switches OBS or vMix. Editing rows, reloading Next or restarting your switcher never switches the program, so a switch you make by hand stays until your next call. Graphics and the teleprompter catch up by themselves after a restart, because they don't change the live picture.

Yes. When you press Save in the Crew window, each new person gets an email with their link. Replies to that email come to you. Crew are told there is no account to make. The email asks them to keep it, because the same link works again.

A company mail filter can hold an email from an outside sender. Copy link on each row gives you the same link to send any other way.

No. A Crew invite link is the pass: open it on a phone and it follows the show, with no account and no sign-up. It shows that person's job only, it can't change anything, and the × on their row in the Crew window closes it.

Yes. A phone's connection pass lasts 10 minutes and renews itself in the background while the person is on the show, so a phone left open keeps following. If the renewal can't reach us for a moment, it tries again; it doesn't drop the rundown.

Crew follow the show while the producer has Next open and in Run mode. Before that, a phone that has joined says it is waiting for the director to enter Run mode.

On the phone, pull down to refresh the page or open the invite link again. The rundown comes back as of the producer's latest update. The producer's Next sends the rundown again every 15 seconds, so a phone that reconnects is current within 15 seconds.

The producer can check the ● online count in Next's top bar. It shows how many people are connected to the show right now.

The producer removed that person from the show with the × on their row in the Crew window. The phone clears the rundown and shows Access removed.

If that was a mistake, the producer adds the person again in the Crew window, presses Save, and sends them the new link with Copy link. The old link stops working.

Open Crew, find the person and press ×. Their invitation is deleted on the spot. Their phone gets the message at once, clears the rundown and shows Access removed.

Every phone's connection pass lasts 10 minutes, and our server checks the invitation each time it renews one. A removed person can't renew, so even a phone that missed the message stops getting updates within 10 minutes.

In the Crew window, press + Add from a spreadsheet (.xlsx or .csv), or drop the file onto the window. One person per row: column A first name, B last name, C email, D job (optional). A header row is fine. Download a blank template (.csv) gives you the columns.

Rows with no email address are left out, and so is the sample address in the instructions (anything at example.com). Next tells you how many rows it skipped. A skipped row is someone already on the list, or an email address that looks wrong.

Everyone comes in as Crew. Check the list, remove anyone with ×, then press Save. Nobody joins the show until you save.

A show holds up to 5 Crew on the Member plan and up to 50 on Team. If a file takes you over, Next says so before you save, and Save turns the batch down with this message: "On an individual plan a show can have up to 5 Crew (the Team plan allows 50). This one has …" On Team it reads: "A show can have up to 50 Crew. This one has …"

Producers are part of the Team plan. On the Member plan you are the Director, and everyone you invite joins as Crew. The Producer box can be ticked, but Save answers: "Producers are part of the Team plan. On an individual plan you are the Director, and everyone you invite joins as Crew." Untick it and save again.

Up to 4 Producers, counted across all of your shows, not per show. The same person on three of your shows counts once. A fifth person is turned down with: "A Team has up to 4 Producers across all your shows. You have 4. Remove one to add another." A seat frees up once that person is removed from all of your shows.

Yes, once you set their job. Each job gets its own live feed: that job's columns plus the timing everyone needs (segment, duration, type and status). The Camera Op gets camera notes. The Teleprompter Op gets the script, and no other job does.

The pass our server issues opens that one feed and no other, based on the invitation, not on anything the phone sends. Checked live: a Camera Op's pass is refused on the Teleprompter and Producer feeds.

Set the job in the Crew window, or in column D of your spreadsheet. A person with no job set, or with the job Producer, gets the full rundown, scripts included.

Cut by hand in OBS to keep the show going. Next only switches on a call or an Undo, so it won't move off your cut until you call again. If the next call misses too, open Switcher in Next and check:

OBS: not connected means OBS hasn't loaded your link. The Browser source has to be in a scene in OBS's current scene collection, its URL has to be the OBS link (not the graphics link), and Shutdown source when not visible in its properties has to be off. OBS: open means OBS has connected at least once; if OBS has closed since, Next can't tell.

A Source cell must match the OBS scene name exactly, capitals and spaces included. The Switcher window lists cells OBS has no scene for. An empty Source cell never switches.

After the show, open the Browser source's properties to read what it says. OBS needs to let this page change scenes means Page permissions must be Advanced access to OBS. Connection failed. Refresh this source in OBS. is safe to do: a refresh never switches the program. Don't turn the source's eye icon on during a show: if it's in the live scene, its status card goes to air.

Cut by hand in vMix to keep the show going. If the next call misses too, check, in this order: in vMix, Settings → Scripting lists your script and it is started; the row's Source cell matches the vMix input title exactly, or its number; and your vMix edition is 4K, Pro or MAX, the editions that include Scripting.

vMix doesn't report back to Next, so the Switcher window can't show vMix problems. The script writes to vMix's scripting console instead: Next: cut to …, Next: no vMix input called …, or a line ending (retrying) when it can't reach us.

If you restarted vMix, open Settings → Scripting and press Start: vMix keeps the script but doesn't start it again by itself. If you made a new switcher link or pressed Unlink, the old script no longer hears your calls: press Copy vMix script again and replace the script in vMix. After a network drop, the script cuts only to your latest call, never to the calls in between.

Switcher ✓ means Next is connected and your calls go out. It doesn't confirm that OBS or vMix cut: before doors, call the first segment, watch the switcher cut, then press Undo. Switcher … means Next is still connecting; calls made now don't go out.

Switcher ! means something needs a look. Open it and read the line under the heading: the connection dropped and is reconnecting, the last call didn't go out, or OBS didn't switch. A dropped connection reconnects by itself. If it stays stuck, reload Next: it picks up the same link, so OBS and vMix need nothing new. Unlink and a new link only if a link leaked.

When OBS and vMix share a show, OBS has no scene for the vMix rows. The Switcher window notes those rows; that's expected and the button stays ✓.

The switcher link is kept in the browser that created it, one link per rundown. On another laptop or browser, or in a different rundown, Next starts unlinked. The Switcher button only shows for the director running the show, and you need to be signed in to Frame to link.

Either run the show from the browser that made the link, or create a new switcher link there. A new link means the OBS Browser source needs the new OBS link, and vMix needs the script copied again. Keep Next open in Run mode on the director's laptop, awake and online: the calls come from there.

In your own Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox, as an .xlsx spreadsheet. File → Save to Drive (⌘S) saves it. Save As… saves a copy under a new name. File → Download .xlsx puts a copy on your computer. The file opens in Excel or Google Sheets like any other spreadsheet.

If the file changed since you opened it, in another tab or in Excel, Next asks before replacing it. You can save a copy, or discard yours and reload the newer one.

If it is already in your Drive, use File → Open from Drive… and pick it. If it is on your computer, use File → Upload .xlsx…, pick the file, then File → Save to Drive and give it a name. Saving needs Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox connected.

Upload reads rundowns in Next's layout: a file saved from Next, a template, or File → Download example. Each sheet becomes a day. To bring in a rundown from somewhere else, start from Download example and paste your rows into its columns. Columns Next doesn't use are kept, and they come back out in the file when you save.

Phones keep the last update on screen and their clock keeps running, so Now and Next keep moving on the last timings they received. Changes made after that reach them once the connection is back.

Your rundown is the spreadsheet in your own Drive, as of your last save. Save before doors and after big changes, and use File → Download .xlsx to keep a copy on the laptop. The show can carry on from that file in Excel or Google Sheets.
