The quote that becomes the invoice.
Type straight into the document — line items, day rates, whole sections per room or shoot day — and every subtotal and total computes as you type. Set a deposit schedule and your own terms, print a clean PDF, save the file as yours. All free. When the job lands, convert the quote to the invoice — tick the deposit as paid and the balance due is computed to the cent — that step is part of membership. Your figures never touch our servers either way.

What it does.
The page is the document
No form on the left and preview on the right — you type into the quote itself. Quantity × rate × days, per-line discounts, note rows that carry no charge, and category totals that move live. Math is computed, never typed, so a total can never disagree with its lines.
Production-shaped, not generic
Sections per room, session, or shoot day — duplicate a whole section in one click when the second ballroom carries the same kit. Exclusion notes sit inside the category where they bite ("power charged to client"), the way real staging proposals are written.
Deposit schedules and terms, built in
Pick 50/50 or 30/40/30 and the amounts compute — they always sum to the total, to the cent. Eight standard terms (validity window, revision cap, out-of-scope, kill fee and the rest) ship as editable starting points; every word is yours, and unchecked terms never print.
Quote free, invoice with membership
Print a clean PDF from the browser and save the whole document as a .json file you keep — free. One click converts the accepted quote to the invoice — tick the deposit as paid and BALANCE DUE is computed for you — and that conversion is part of Starting Frame membership ($24/mo, 14-day trial), the same way Release gives one form free and membership adds more. Nothing is ever uploaded, member or not.
Questions.
What is the quote maker?
A browser tool for building production quotes and invoices — line items with day rates, sections per room or shoot day, deposit schedules, editable terms. Building, printing and saving the quote is free; one-click conversion from the accepted quote to the invoice, with the deposit already subtracted, is part of membership.
Is it really free?
Building the quote is — no account needed, no watermark on anything you print, and it runs entirely in your browser. The invoice half — converting the accepted quote into the invoice with the deposit subtracted — is part of Starting Frame membership ($24/mo, 14-day free trial).
Do my rates and client details get uploaded?
No. Nothing reaches our servers — the draft lives in your browser and the document saves as a .json file on your own computer. Your rates, your clients, and your totals never leave your machine, whether or not you are a member.
How does quote-to-invoice conversion work?
Members convert the accepted quote with one click, then tick each deposit part as it is paid. The invoice shows the total, the amount paid to date, and the balance due — computed to the cent, so the classic mistake of forgetting to subtract the deposit cannot happen. Not a member yet? The quote itself stays fully free; the trial covers conversion for 14 days.
Can I use my own terms and wording?
Yes. The eight built-in terms are common industry conventions offered as starting points — every word is editable and you can add your own. This is a document tool, not a law firm or accounting firm: confirm your numbers and wording before you send.
Is this part of the Production Suite?
Yes. The Starting Frame Production Suite is Next (the run of show), Just Read It (the teleprompter), Scene (stream graphics), Quote and Release, made to run one show together. Every tool works on its own, and the free parts stay free. One membership, $24/month or $240/year with a 14-day free trial, connects them: Next calls the show and the prompter, OBS or vMix and the graphics follow. For this tool, membership adds one-click conversion of the accepted quote into the invoice, with the deposit already subtracted.
How do I send it to a client?
Print to PDF straight from the browser — the page prints as a clean document with your terms and deposit schedule, and none of the editing controls. Before printing, a checklist flags the most commonly forgotten line items, like travel, revision caps, and usage rights.
Open the quote maker free.
Free, in your browser — no sign-up. When you're ready for the production tools — a teleprompter and a live run-of-show — there's a membership for that.
The free tools are free forever. The Starting Frame membership (14-day trial) adds Next (live run-of-show) and the saved-scripts library in Just Read It. The free tools stay free either way.
