Starting Frame.

What changed.

Every change to the tools, week by week, in plain words: what was happening, and what happens now. Newest first.

Week of October 19, 2026

  • Production Suite

Next, Just Read It, Scene, Quote and Release now sit together as the Production Suite, on one page with the five-minute Next walkthrough and a demo show you can open without signing up. See the suite

  • Frame

The Production Suite comes first in Frame's launcher and tab bar, and every app shows its own coloured mark top left, so you always know which tool you're in.

  • Struna

A new layout: File, Edit, Add, View and Help menus along the top, your footage on the left, the selected clip's settings on the right, and three dividers you can drag to make any panel bigger.

  • Struna

Camera files over 2 GB now export with their sound, and so do exports made in Safari. A range marked from the very start exports only its own sound. Nine sliders now have names a screen reader can read out.

  • Struna

The guide now lists which footage opens on Windows.

  • Embalo

A coming-soon page with a puzzle, ahead of Embalo opening on 31 October. Try the puzzle

  • Next

Each call can now cut vMix too. In Run mode, the OBS button is now called Switcher. Create a switcher link, press Copy vMix script, paste it into vMix under Settings → Scripting, and each call cuts vMix to the input named in the row's Source cell, with vMix's enhanced security left on. Scripting is part of vMix 4K, Pro and MAX. Tested on vMix 29 on Windows 11.

  • Next

Download the vMix script. The director's laptop usually isn't the vMix PC, so Download saves the script with your show's link already filled in, ready to travel by AirDrop, USB or email.

  • Next

vMix keeps the script when it closes but doesn't start it again by itself, so the guide now says to press Start after you reopen vMix, with four new answers for when a call doesn't switch.

  • Struna

Subtitles from your own audio: Struna listens on your computer and writes a first draft for you to check. It works in English and likes clear audio, and the first time it downloads a 105 MB speech model, once.

  • Struna

A Footage panel for your clips and a source view to look at a clip before it goes on the timeline. Markers, and J, K and L to play backward, stop and play forward. Export just a range. Four transitions. Corner handles on the picture. Sound on Linux.

  • Next

Link the Just Read It teleprompter once in Run mode, and each segment you call sends its script to the talent's screen, paused at the top until the operator presses Play. Turn on Roll on call and, from your second call on, each call starts the countdown and the scroll by itself.

  • Next

Each call can also switch OBS to the scene named in the row's Source cell, and show a Scene lower third, headline or BRB screen from the row's Graphics cell, in your own Scene look. OBS links through its own Browser Source: no OBS plugin or WebSocket password. Tested on OBS 32 for Mac. Linking is part of Next; Just Read It and Scene stay free.

  • Brand Kit

Saving a brand kit — your colours, logo and font — was part of membership. It is now free with any account, and every tool that carries a kit applies it in one click. Membership is the two production tools, Just Read It and Next.

  • Site

The run-of-show, teleprompter and quote pages now tell search engines and AI assistants the right product names.

  • Background

Background made shape loops. It now also makes gradient loops: switch to Gradient, pick 2, 3 or 4 colors, and set how much it moves — 0 is a still gradient, anything above it drifts gently and returns to its start every loop, at any length. Shapes can also sit on a still two-color plate. Exports add a fine, fixed grain and encode at constant quality, so smooth gradients don't band into stripes.

  • Next

Crew viewers used to receive the whole rundown while the page hid the columns their role didn't need. Each role now receives only its own columns, and the connection itself enforces it — the prompter is the only role that receives scripts. Revoking an invitation disconnects that viewer within moments. If a show is too large to send live, the producer is now told which role is affected instead of nobody being told.

  • The site

Plan, Produce and Post are now the top of startingframe.com — three pages, each opening with its film, with the product groups underneath them. The menu leads with the three. Group pages had been carrying a placeholder browser title and description; they now carry their real ones. On smaller windows the menu could run off the right edge; it stays on screen now.

  • Quote

Building, printing and saving a quote stays free. Converting the accepted quote into the invoice is now part of membership — the tool says so before it asks, and the quote itself keeps working either way.

  • Films

Every product film now sits on its own tool's page, and the three category films sit on their Plan, Produce and Post pages. Films still scheduled on YouTube appear on the site by themselves the day they go public.

  • Frame home

Quotes & invoices has its own tile on the Frame home, next to Scene and Release.

  • Typo · Callout · Chat · Background · Blip

On Firefox for Windows, exported MP4s could stop partway through. They now come out whole. If Firefox hands the frames back out of order, the export retries in a format that keeps them in order.

  • Behind the scenes

The Frame app now tells us when something breaks in your browser: which tool, what broke, where in our code, and a coarse browser label like "Chrome 139 · Mac". It carries no account identifier, we don't store an IP address with it, and it contains nothing you typed or made. Each report is deleted 30 days after that error was last seen. That report is how the Firefox export problem above got found, the day it happened. What gets sent

  • Callout

The transparent export and the DaVinci Resolve bundle could wait forever on a card with no text. They now need text first, so they can't hang.

  • Background

The luma matte inside the DaVinci Resolve bundle was the depth map. It's the real luma matte now. The controls lock while a recording is running, and fullscreen works in Safari.

  • Blip

Dragging the timeline pauses playback, and the blinks loop cleanly at any blink rate.

  • Typo · Callout · Chat

Subtitle files timed with a period (00:00:01.000 instead of 00:00:01,000) now load. They used to break the animation and the export.

  • Scene

Lower thirds and topic cards now download as transparent PNGs, the same as the Live overlay.

  • Struna

A clip set to 50% volume plays at 50% from its first frame. Transcription listens to the dialogue only, not the music bed.

  • Just Read It

When a session can't connect, a banner says so. Before, a dead session looked like it was waiting for the operator.

  • Next

Next remembers who owns a show, so revoking every invite no longer locks the producer out of their own rundown.

  • Release

The Create button no longer sticks on "Creating…" when something goes wrong. The form list says so when it can't load, and the signing page checks the email address before you sign.

  • Quote

Switching templates asks before replacing names and descriptions you've typed, even while the totals are still $0. Deleting a filled-in row asks first, and copied text now includes your program details.

  • Blender add-ons

Tumbol 1.0.1 keeps your own keyframes. Studio Stage 1.1.4: the HDRI rotation slider works, and your look survives a stage switch. Sprawl 0.2.5 leaves your compositor alone. Your existing download link serves the new version.

  • BlendFusion Pro · Afterframe Pro

BlendFusion Pro 0.2.1 writes Windows file paths correctly and checks every tagged object in Scene Prep. Afterframe Pro 0.1.1 saves relative output paths next to your saved .blend file.

Something not working? Tell us. The weekly Ship Log newsletter carries these too.
