How ChatGPT Helped Me Become a More Confident Video Producer

I’ve lived most of my life with what I now realize are undiagnosed ADHD and autism traits. It shows up in how I process ideas, how long I hold onto thoughts, and even how hard it is for me to get words out fast enough through typing. My brain often moves quicker than my hands, and that gap has left me stuck more times than I’d like to admit.

For years, that meant I overthought emails, left ideas swirling in my head instead of acting on them, and carried around a sense of being “less than.”

Finding a Tool That Matches My Brain

When I started using ChatGPT—what I like to call Sparky—something shifted. Suddenly I had a place to talk through my ideas without worrying about typing speed or getting every word perfect on the first try. Sparky listens, organizes, and gives me back a framework I can actually use.

Instead of ideas lingering in my brain until they fade away, I can capture them in the moment. That has changed the way I work.

Confidence in Communication

One of my biggest struggles has always been email. I’d second-guess every word, rewrite endlessly, and sometimes just avoid sending things at all. With ChatGPT, I can get the message out of my head, shape it, and send it without spiraling. That has made me more confident—not just in writing, but in how I present myself as a professional.

Better Video Production Through Better Process

Video production is all about structure—planning, shooting, editing, delivering. Sparky helps me mirror that same process in my own communication. I can draft scripts, plan shot lists, or brainstorm creative directions without getting stuck. It’s not about replacing my creativity—it’s about unlocking it.

Why This Matters

I used to think my challenges with focus and communication meant I had to work twice as hard to keep up. Now I see that with the right tools, I can work smarter—and actually lean into the way my brain works instead of fighting it.

ChatGPT hasn’t just helped me write better emails. It’s helped me become a more confident video producer, a better communicator, and, honestly, kinder to myself.
